Starbreeze informed its employees last week, reports 80 Level, citing information from the company’s Slack channels.
As of the end of February, the French team consisted of 23 people. More than half of them are scheduled to be laid off by the end of March, and the rest may be dismissed by the end of June. According to 80 Level, some employees might be relocated to Sweden, where Starbreeze's headquarters are located. However, there is no precise information on this matter.
The company's management explained the new wave of layoffs with economic reasons. It should be noted that Starbreeze ended 2024 with a net loss of $18.6 million, and its revenue decreased 3.4 times to $17.35 million.
It is worth noting that the French division is responsible for producing patches, DLC, and other content for the company’s key games like Payday. Starbreeze also has remote teams in Spain and the United Kingdom.
As of December 31, 2024, the company's staff consisted of 189 people. At the end of January, it was reported that Starbreeze laid off 25-30 employees over the past few months.
