Studio Vela Games, founded by immigrants from Electronic Arts and Riot Games, also held layoffs. As the Irish Examiner writes with reference to the Financial Services Union, there are less than 20 people left in the studio.
According to the Irish Examiner, there were 60-65 employees at Vela Games before the layoffs. About 50 of them lost their jobs.
Vela Games, in response to a request from the Irish Examiner, confirmed that it had fired some employees, but refused to give an exact number. According to studio representatives, a significant number of people have been cut, but there are less than 50 of them.
Judging by a separate publication on the studio’s blog, the reason for the cuts was the financial failure of its only game — MOBA Evercore Heroes.
