For over a year, the group of companies "Lesta Games" has been under state control, but it may soon return to private ownership. This information is reported by Forbes, citing sources.
"World of Warships"
According to the newspaper, Nikita Mazepin is in negotiations to purchase the developer of "World of Tanks" and "World of Warships." Mazepin, a former Formula 1 driver, is the CEO of the investment firm "UKM Group" and the son of Russian billionaire Dmitry Mazepin. It is reported that he showed interest in "Lesta Games" last fall, and now the deal is close to completion.
The cost for Mazepin to acquire "Lesta Games" varies according to different statements. One source from Forbes estimates the group's value at about 45-50 billion rubles. Another source mentions a lower amount — 30-35 billion rubles.
It is possible that the purchase will not be made by Mazepin personally, but by "UKM Group," which he leads. In a comment to Forbes, a representative for the former racing driver confirmed that the investment company is currently "conducting a number of deals in the fields of digital technologies, fintech, and AI." No further details were provided.
"Lesta Games" itself declined to discuss the sources' information with Forbes.
Previously, Alexey Moiseev, Russia's Deputy Minister of Finance, stated that "Lesta Games" will be sold to an "interested investor" soon. If his words are accurate, the sale might occur in September-October.
