According to Henderson, EA announced the decision not to renew the testers' contracts during a video call at Zoom. Her words came as a surprise not only to the affected specialists, but also to the project managers.

At the same time, Henderson claims, EA is pleased with the work of the British team. The company informed the testers that they had achieved all internal indicators. Layoffs are not related to their performance, but are part of a large-scale restructuring.

EA started a new stage of restructuring a month and a half ago. At the end of February, the company warned about the impending dismissal of 670 people, and also announced that it was closing some games, including the Star Wars shooter from Respawn Entertainment.

In March, the media reported that during the restructuring, EA laid off 23 employees from Respawn Entertainment. Basically, the specialists involved in Apex Legends fell under the reduction.
