The Walt Disney Company is searching for a successor to its current head, Bob Iger, according to The Wall Street Journal. Sources claim that one of the candidates is Andrew Wilson, CEO of Electronic Arts (EA).

Andrew Wilson

It is reported that besides Wilson, Disney is considering at least two other external candidates as well as several internal executives.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Iger plans to leave his position at the end of 2026 upon the expiration of his contract. Initially, his contract was set to end in 2024, but the company decided to extend it for another two years.

Wilson has led EA for 11 years. As noted by The Wall Street Journal, he has been in regular contact with Disney's management in recent years. For instance, in 2022, there were rumors that Wilson was in negotiations to sell EA to several major companies, including Disney. Additionally, it is reported that in 2018, Wilson interviewed for the position of head of the cable sports channel ESPN, but the role ultimately went to Jimmy Pitaro.

Neither EA nor Disney has commented on the information from The Wall Street Journal.
