Layoffs continue in the gaming industry. According to Kotaku Australia, Electronic Arts (EA) is going to cut two-thirds of the employees of the Australian Firemonkeys Studios.
According to the publication, EA announced plans to lay off on April 26, and two days after that, general manager Joe Donoghue left the studio. Who else will be fired, it became known only at the end of May.
It is also reported that Firemonkeys Studios will no longer work on the mobile games Real Racing 3 and Need for Speed: No Limits. EA decided to transfer them to the Indian studio Slingshot Games.
EA confirmed to Kotaku Australia that it has “made some changes to the structure of Firemonkeys Studios,” and added that developers will now focus on supporting The Sims FreePlay.
