Former and current employees of the GOG gaming platform shared with the Polish publication CD Action about the working environment in their division. They claim that CD PROJEKT conducts significant layoffs at GOG every two to three years, with the most recent ones having taken place two months ago.

According to CD Action's sources, in October, CD PROJEKT laid off 20% of GOG's staff, which equates to about 20-30 employees. They added that the annual employee turnover at GOG typically stands at 30%.
Many sources from CD Action believe that the October layoffs might have resulted from the insufficient competence of GOG's managing director, Maciej Gołębiewski, who took the position in January 2024. They noted that he rose through the ranks very quickly — in 2017, Gołębiewski was a junior product specialist. While the publication's sources acknowledge his enthusiasm, they also complain about Gołębiewski's lack of consistent vision and reluctance to accept criticism.
“During onboarding, they tell us that GOG is a place where everyone can openly express their opinions, that we are one family, and things like that. But if someone really says they don’t like something or voices suggestions, they can expect a talk with Maciej, and often, a subsequent dismissal,” said an employee who left GOG earlier this year.
GOG representatives refused to comment to CD Action on reports about leadership issues. Regarding the October layoffs, they stated that GOG “regularly adjusts its structure in line with its strategy and current projects,” which sometimes leads to staffing reductions.
