The Chinese holding company ByteDance is negotiating the sale of the Moonton mobile studio, sources tell Reuters. According to their information, there is at least one company from Saudi Arabia among the potential buyers.
It is reported that ByteDance was not satisfied with the results of Moonton's work. Although the main hit of the Mobile Legends studio: Bang Bang generates a lot of money (according to the AppMagic service, its revenue from IAP exceeds $ 1.15 billion), other games earn significantly less. In addition, the parent company TikTok allegedly decided to pay less attention to games and focus on the core business.
The negotiations are still at an early stage.
ByteDance bought Moonton in March 2021. As a result of the deal, the studio was valued at $ 4 billion.
