The Japanese government has long considered it extremely important to promote the country's culture abroad. To achieve this, officials are focusing on the local content industry, which includes video games, anime, music, and much more.

As reported by Yomiuri, the Japanese authorities plan to allocate a total of 34 trillion yen ($210.1 billion) by 2033 for the international expansion of the content industry. According to the publication, a significant portion of this amount will be directed towards video games — 24.5 trillion yen ($151.4 billion). This is a very substantial figure, and the justification for it remains unclear.

Interestingly, not all the funds will come from the Japanese treasury. As per Yomiuri's data, both public and private investments will be made to support the promotion.

A new organization, modeled after South Korea's KOCCA, will be responsible for addressing issues of international expansion. It is expected to start operations next year.
