Several App Store employees in China have been accused of abuse of office, sources tell The Information. According to the publication, they were approached by developers with a request to help with the promotion of games in the store.
It is alleged that in exchange for promoting games, developers paid App Store employees for lunches and took them to nightclubs.
Shortly after the situation became known, Apple launched an internal investigation. As a result, the company fired at least five people.
Apple told The Information that it would not comment on the allegations against employees. But she pointed out that the company has adopted strict rules of business ethics and all reports of their violation are thoroughly investigated. If necessary, Apple can, in particular, dismiss violators.
