On December 20, Mark Zuckerberg appeared in court in the case of the purchase of the VR developer Within Unlimited. The head of Meta* tried to prove that this deal would not make his company a monopolist in the nascent market of fitness games for virtual reality.

Zuckerberg said at the hearing that buying Within Unlimited is less important to him than the very existence of such developers. Nevertheless, if the studio becomes part of Meta*, it will be able to enlist additional support, become a pioneer in its segment and spur other VR developers. All this will only increase competition and benefit the VR industry.

*The company’s activities are prohibited on the territory of the Russian Federation.
