Ubisoft’s game director for Assassin’s Creed Hexe has left, the wishlist count for Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era has officially surpassed 1.5 million, and sales of Road to Vostok have reached 250,000 copies. We're covering the main events in the gaming industry from the past weekend.
- Ubisoft is once again losing key staff. This time, it was announced by Benoit Richer, who recently led the development of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Hexe. While he did not elaborate on the reasons for his departure, he mentioned having already secured a new position as a game director at the Canadian indie studio Servo Games. Interestingly, this is not the first time Richer has left Ubisoft. He departed in 2008 for a level designer role at Electronic Arts and again in 2010 for a game director position at WB Games Montréal. In total, Richer worked at Ubisoft for about 19 years.
- Unfrozen Studio and publisher Hooded Horse announced that by the end of April, Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era had accumulated 1.5 million wishlists on Steam. This figure exceeds that of most other upcoming games—at the time of the announcement, the strategy game ranked ninth among the most anticipated projects on Steam, rising to eighth by Monday morning, positioning itself between Kingmakers and ARK 2. The new "Heroes" will debut in early access this Thursday, April 30.
- Road to Vostok is continuing to boost its sales. The game’s creator, Antti Leinonen, shared that over 250,000 copies were sold in just two and a half weeks since the early access launch. He noted that the revenue is now sufficient to fund the entire roadmap for the shooter, allowing him to maintain independent development. According to Leinonen, 85% of the earnings will be used for new game content, 10% for brand development, and another 5% for research and investments.
