The analytical company Circana presented a report on the state of the U.S. gaming market for August, highlighting key trends and the best-selling games among American gamers.

Madden NFL 25

  • In August, U.S. sales of video games, gaming hardware, and accessories totaled $4.1 billion, which is 7% less than last year.
  • Video game sales amounted to $3.74 billion (-5%), hardware sales to $208 million (-36%), and accessory sales to $173 million (-3%).
  • Madden NFL 25 was the best-selling game of August 2024. It has demonstrated this success for the 25th consecutive year since the franchise's first installment was released in 2000. The EA Sports MVP Bundle, which includes this title, also shows excellent sales—ranking 4th in the top both for August and the year.
  • At the end of August, EA Sports College Football 25 remained the best-selling game of 2024 in the U.S., preventing Helldivers 2 from taking the lead.
  • Among newcomers making it into the top 20 games of August, Star Wars: Outlaws (3rd place), Visions of Mana (10th), and Gundam Breaker 4 (11th) stood out.
  • American users are increasingly focusing on mobile gaming—with their spending on gaming content rising by 4% in 2024 thanks to this category.
  • In the mobile game segment, data showed that Americans are most inclined to spend on MONOPOLY GO!. However, Pokémon GO is losing ground following a surge in interest after the fest in July. The report also noted that Township is breaking records for monthly consumer spending in the U.S.
