The Russian retail chain "M.Video-Eldorado" told how things were going with sales of disc editions of console games in 2023.

The main thing from the company's material:
- In 2023, the PlayStation 4 was still the most popular console in Russia - the versions for it accounted for half of all game discs sold at M.Video Eldorado;
- Another 25% of the games sold were PlayStation 5 versions. Next in popularity were games for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series and Xbox One;
- Russians were most active in buying games at the end of the year. In October-December, more than 30% of all games were sold;
- The leader of the year in total sales, as in 2022, was Cyberpunk 2077. Also included in the top five are GTA V, Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, Hogwarts Legacy and God of War: Ragnarok;
- the main bestseller on PlayStation 5 is God of War: Ragnarok, on PlayStation 4 — Cyberpunk 2077, on Nintendo Switch — The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, on Xbox Series — GTA V, on Xbox One — Red Dead Redemption 2;
- The best-selling new items of 2023 are Hogwarts Legacy, Atomic Heart, Diablo IV, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, EA Sports FC 24 and Mortal Kombat 1.
In a comment to the Kommersant newspaper, representatives of M.Video-Eldorado also reported that in 2023, Russians bought 1.3 million consoles worth 23 billion rubles. According to the company's estimates, unit sales of consoles doubled over the year. At the same time, along with modern consoles, retro consoles were in great demand — their sales increased by 30%.
