This week, the Finnish mobile studio Lightneer officially shut down. It had been in operation for nine years.
The closure of the studio was announced on LinkedIn by its CEO, Henri Lindgren. He did not go into details or explain why this decision was made.
Lightneer was established in 2015. It was founded by a group of former employees from another Finnish mobile company, Rovio. Initially, the studio focused on creating educational games, but it failed to achieve success in this segment, so in 2018 it shifted to developing hyper-casual projects.
By the time of its closure, Lightneer had released over 150 games, among which Hammer Jump, Good Slice, and Bazooka Boy were some of the most successful. According to information on the studio's website, the total audience for its titles surpassed 100 million people.
Lightneer is at least the third studio to close in August. Previously, it became known about the closure of Archiact Interactive and Ready At Dawn.
