The third news of the day about layoffs. Next in line is the studio Reflector Entertainment, which developed the action-adventure Unknown 9: Awakening.
Unknown 9: Awakening
The layoffs were first reported by Kotaku journalist Ethan Gach. His information is supported by posts from the studio's former employees on LinkedIn. In particular, narrative designer Anna Karina Bermudez, brand manager Manou Deneuvel, and level artist Dorian Duroyaume wrote about their forced departure from Reflector Entertainment.
It is unknown how many people in total were laid off from Reflector Entertainment.
The layoffs at Reflector Entertainment may have been prompted by the weak launch of Unknown 9: Awakening. The game was released on October 18 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. By the time of writing this news, it had received only 74 reviews on Steam, of which 45% were positive. The situation is slightly better in the PlayStation Store, where 334 people rated Unknown 9: Awakening, resulting in an average score of 3.68 out of 5.
As for online presence, at its peak, 285 people were playing the Steam version of Unknown 9: Awakening simultaneously.
The management of Reflector Entertainment did not comment on the news of the layoffs. There were also no statements from Bandai Namco Entertainment, the studio's parent company.
Update: Reflector Entertainment has officially announced the dismissal of 18% of its staff.
