KRAFTON announced that it purchased “more than 75% of the shares” of Nautilus Mobile for 20.2 billion Korean won ($13.75 million). In a comment to the portal TechCrunch, a KRAFTON representative stated that the company had already acquired a small stake in the studio at the beginning of 2022 but over time wanted to increase its role. Now KRAFTON will be able to have a greater influence on strategic decisions made at Nautilus Mobile.
The acquisition of the controlling stake in Nautilus Mobile will also strengthen KRAFTON's position in the Indian market. Currently, this is one of the key regions for the company. In total, it has invested more than $200 million in local startups.
Under the terms of the deal, Nautilus Mobile will retain its creative independence. All 45 of its employees will remain in their positions.
Nautilus Mobile was founded in 2013. On the studio's official website, it is reported that to date, it has released more than 14 games, which have collectively amassed 350 million downloads worldwide. According to AppMagic data, Nautilus Mobile's most profitable projects are Real Cricket 20 and Real Cricket 24. Their net IAP revenue stands at $2.8 million and $2.9 million respectively.
