The game outsourcing company Keywords Studios has announced the acquisition of a new studio. Under the company's umbrella is now Certain Affinity — a team that has assisted in the development of Hogwarts Legacy, DOOM, as well as games from the Call of Duty and Halo series, among many others.
The terms and size of the deal are not disclosed. It is known that the leadership of Certain Affinity will remain in place and continue to lead the studio.
With this acquisition, Keywords Studios aims to accelerate its growth. It will also expand its presence in the USA and Canada. As for Certain Affinity, the deal will provide it with more stability in a market experiencing challenging times — in the spring of 2024, the studio underwent layoffs and is now pleased with the support from a large company.
Certain Affinity was founded in 2006 by former Bungie employees. It has offices in Austin and Toronto, with a total workforce of over 180 people. Currently, the studio, among other projects, is working alongside Archetype Entertainment on a science fiction RPG about space exploration, EXODUS.
