Since July, all technology platforms that want to work in Indonesia must officially register a business in the country in accordance with the new licensing rules. Those who refused will be blocked. But those who agree will come under stricter control of the authorities.

For example, now the Indonesian authorities will be able to require platforms to delete content within a day that is potentially capable of “provoking riots.” Officials will also be able to introduce VAT for digital goods.

The registration deadline was yesterday, July 20. But since not all companies had time to go through the procedure, the authorities decided to give them five additional days. Among those who “missed” the requirement are Roblox, Amazon, Alibaba, LinkedIn and others.
