Capcom announced that the remake of Resident Evil 4 took only two days to sell over 3 million copies.

Remakes of the previous two parts did not sell so well at the start. The updated version of Resident Evil 2 reached the mark of 3 million copies sold a week after the release. Sales of the Resident Evil 3 remake for the first five days amounted to 2 million copies.

According to Capcom, to date, the original Resident Evil 4 has been bought 12.3 million times since the game was released in 2005. This figure also takes into account the sales of reissues of the game on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
