The Turkish authorities have blocked access to the gaming platform Roblox within the country. According to officials, this was done to protect children.
Turkey's Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç wrote on X that the platform was blocked by the decision of the world criminal court of Adana. The court concluded that Roblox exploits children. Additionally, there is unacceptable content on the platform.
The portal Turkiye Today, citing a statement from a representative of the Turkish Communications Office, provided more details about the reasons for blocking Roblox. According to their information, the platform was blocked due to 1) the inability of the country's authorities to control content on Roblox, 2) children having access to sexual content, 3) the promotion of LGBT*, and 4) encouraging children to participate in inappropriate events using the virtual currency Robux.
