The studio Shift Up has encountered issues due to the game title Stellar Blade. The American film company Stellarblade has initiated legal proceedings against it. Sony, the corporation that published the game, has also received a lawsuit.

In the lawsuit, Stellarblade claimed that Shift Up and Sony have harmed its business. The film company officially opened in 2010, and its founder Griffith Chambers Mehaffey launched a website of the same name back in 2006. However, potential clients found it difficult to find information about Stellarblade after Shift Up announced in 2022 that their new game would be called Stellar Blade.

The film company also accused Shift Up and Sony of trademark infringement regarding "Stellarblade." It is worth noting that Shift Up registered its trademark ("Stellar Blade") in January 2023, while Stellarblade only did so six months later.

Stellarblade also raised concerns about the game's logo. The film company pointed out that it is executed in the same color scheme as their own logo. Additionally, both logos use a stylized letter S at the beginning of the brand name, which, in their opinion, only increases the confusion.

Stellarblade demanded that Shift Up and Sony cease using the game name and hand over all items featuring the name "Stellar Blade" for subsequent destruction. The film company also seeks compensation for damages and legal expenses.
