This is currently the most successful release of 2026. Even the developers themselves did not anticipate such results.
The achievement was shared by Tyler Glaiel, who specifically noted that Mewgenics had approximately 600,000 wishlists at release. Significantly, 200,000 of those came after the publication of enthusiastic reviews from the press.
Let’s recall, Mewgenics recouped its development costs within just three hours of release. Here's how the game's sales dynamic currently looks:
- 150,000 copies — in five hours;
- 250,000 copies — in 12 hours;
- 500,000 copies — in a day and a half;
- 1 million copies — in the first week.
Currently, Glaiel and Edmund McMillen are working on console versions of Mewgenics and the game’s localization into other languages. Among those announced are Russian, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Considering the project's success, it’s possible this list could expand in the future.
