The Russian parliament advised the government to tighten control over video games and develop additional mechanisms for their examination. The parliamentarians believe that foreign states might use video games for propaganda among Russian gamers.

World of Tanks

The authors of the idea indicated that video games are often used to create a negative image of Russia. As an example, they cited World of Tanks, where "Russian tanks are always worse than Western ones and constantly break down," and top players often turn out to be Russophobes.

Parliamentarians want video games to be checked for "forming deviant behavior and undermining legal culture among children and youth." Games that promote propaganda are proposed to be banned from distribution in Russia.
