The corresponding directive has already been signed by the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Mishustin.

"War of the Worlds: Siberia"

The strategy turned out to be extensive. The Russian government published a 76-page document detailing the key goals and objectives for the next decade, as well as broadly listing the measures of state support for various segments of the country's creative economy.

A separate section of the strategy is dedicated to video games. According to this section, the authorities plan to:

  • improve the situation in Russia regarding investments and grants for gaming companies;
  • expand the industry infrastructure, including through the creation of new gaming clusters and research and development centers in the country;
  • strengthen the human resources potential of game development;
  • assist in promoting video games both in Russia and internationally;
  • ensure the legal protection of video games and their elements as complex objects of intellectual property rights.

Notably, some points related to video games echo the proposals previously put forward by the Organization for the Development of the Video Game Industry (RVI) in its own strategy to support game development in Russia. However, as reported by the RVI themselves, they collaborated with officials in drafting this initiative, so such an outcome is logical.

The Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation will oversee the implementation of the strategy in the gaming segment.
