The number of game developers in Ukraine has decreased. As the GamedevDou portal found out, in February 2023, 9,074 people worked in the 25 largest gaming companies with offices in the country – in May last year there were 10,395 people.

This situation is explained by relocation. Many specialists went abroad and lost their tax residency. This means that they no longer pay taxes in Ukraine and are not formally considered part of the local game dev.

In February, the most specialists worked in the Ukrainian branches of Playrix — 1,273 people. Next are Room 8 Group (1,057 people), Plarium (903 people), Ubisoft (827 people), Gameloft (641 people) and Wargaming (434 people).
