The full new name will be the Bukhman International Booker Prize.
As reported by the prize organizers, they renamed the award as a gesture of gratitude. This is because Bukhman Philanthropies, a charitable foundation established by Dmitry Bukhman and his wife Daria, recently became their long-term partner. The foundation agreed to allocate 1.4 million pounds sterling (1.87 million dollars) annually for the next ten years, and the organizers considered it important to reflect this in the name.
Recall that Dmitry Bukhman is among the wealthiest residents of the UK. According to calculations by The Sunday Times, in 2026, he and his brother Igor ranked 10th in the corresponding list. The newspaper estimated their total wealth at 14.26 billion pounds sterling (19.04 billion dollars).
