The French authorities continue to promote their language policy. The other day, the country’s Ministry of Culture expressed concern about how often people use Anglicisms when talking about video games. According to officials, because of this, it is difficult for the French, who are far from the games, to understand what is being discussed.

Therefore, the Ministry has published its list of terms, which representatives of the French public services are now obliged to adhere to.

For example, instead of “eSports” they will have to say “jeu video de competition”, and instead of “cloud gaming” — “jeu video en nuage”. Also, streamers will now be called “joueur-animateur en direct”.
