The KGB of Belarus has added Nikolay Katselapov, Director of Business Development at Wargaming, to the list of persons involved in terrorism. The corresponding entry appeared on the agency’s website on January 3, however, the media paid attention to it only now.
Katselapov was accused of financing terrorist activities. It is unknown how much money he transferred and to whom. It should be noted that Katselapov may face up to 12 years in prison.
Katselapov is at the origins of Wargaming, officially working with the company since 2002. According to open sources, he owns 17% of the shares of the authors of World of Tanks (however, according to other sources, he got rid of at least part of his share in 2017). The daily newspaper ranked him 18th among the most influential Belarusian businessmen by the end of 2021.
