As predicted by analysts, by the end of the current year, the sales volume of mobile games in the country will reach $1.92 billion. This constitutes 56% of the entire domestic mobile applications market.

In the future, this figure will only continue to grow. According to TelecomDaily calculations, by 2030, it could increase to $2.63 billion, and by 2033, to $3.44 billion. The entire mobile applications market at that time is expected to rise to $4.67 billion and $6.05 billion, respectively.

In addition to market evaluation, TelecomDaily shared the results of a survey of 2,000 adult Android smartphone owners in Russia. Below are the key findings related to games*.

  • In the past year, 63% of respondents played mobile games. Among them, 48% did so daily, and another 18% three to five days a week.
  • The most popular categories of mobile games in Russia are casual titles in general and puzzles in particular (77%). Additionally, Russians actively play card and board games (44%), strategy games (33%), and simulators (28%).
  • Money was spent on mobile games by 15% of all survey participants over the past year. The average spending was around 1,000 rubles.
  • Primarily, Russians purchased subscriptions and premium access to games—such purchases were made by 57% of paying gamers. Paid games themselves were bought by 47%, while in-game items and currency were acquired by 46%.
  • Exactly half of the paying gamers occasionally made purchases through RuStore, and 46% through Google Play. The option to pay developers directly was also popular, used by 30%.
  • 24% of paying gamers told analysts that in the past 12 months, they spent more on mobile games than the previous year. Conversely, 23% reduced their expenses. However, the majority (53%) maintained their spending at the same level.

*In some questions, respondents could select several options simultaneously, so the total percentage exceeds 100.
