The GamesIndustry portal studied the data of the Australian Interactive Games and Entertainment Association (IGEA) and shared statistics on the Australian gaming market for 2022.

At the end of 2022, 102 game studios were operating in Australia. Their total annual revenue was 284.4 million Australian dollars or 180.1 million US dollars (for convenience, we will indicate the money in US dollars below). It has increased by 26% compared to 2021. It should be noted that over the past six years, the revenues of game studios in Australia have more than doubled — by 148%;
28% of studios opened at least ten years ago, 48% of studios — six to nine years ago, 27% of studios - five or less years ago;
As of December 2022, 2,104 people worked in the studios.

81% of Australian gamers play on consoles, 70% — on smartphones, 59% — on PCs, 43% — on tablets, and 5% use VR headsets;
The average age of an Australian gamer is 35 years;
On average, Australians play 90 minutes a day;
Last year, Australians spent $2.67 billion on video games, gaming hardware and gaming peripherals. 5% more than in 2021;
▫️Australians spent the most money on games for consoles and PCs — $1.2 billion. Next up are mobile games — $989.2 million. It took them another $384.9 million to buy iron, and $81.7 million to buy peripherals.
