In late March, the British indie studio Digital Cybercherries unveiled the PlayStation version of the shooter featuring toy soldiers, Hypercharge: Unboxed. The developers boasted that the announcement generated significant interest from the audience.
According to the studio, just a week after the announcement, Hypercharge: Unboxed had 30,000 wishlists in the PlayStation Store, and by the end of two weeks and four days, the number of wishlists exceeded 50,000.
In his LinkedIn account, Digital Cybercherries’ marketing director Joe Henson shared that the studio currently has only five employees. The developers are publishing Hypercharge: Unboxed on PlayStation independently and have gained wishlists completely organically.
Henson believes that Hypercharge: Unboxed has managed to capture the audience's attention by playing on a sense of nostalgia.
To recall, Hypercharge: Unboxed was released on PC back in 2017. Three years later, it appeared on the Nintendo Switch, and in 2024 it reached the Xbox. The exact release date on PlayStation is still unknown, but the game is expected to debut on Sony's consoles within the year.
