On July 23, several former Humble Games employees wrote on social media that the publisher's management decided to lay off all 36 workers and shut down the company. Shortly thereafter, Humble Games denied these claims.

In a statement to the media, the company reported that it had begun restructuring, during which layoffs had indeed occurred. Humble Games refused to disclose the extent of the layoffs but emphasized that it would continue operations despite everything. The company also stated that the restructuring would not affect Humble Bundle's activities or the upcoming game releases, including Monaco 2 and Wizard of Legend 2.

However, things might not be so simple. Former Humble Games Creative Director Chris Radley urged people not to believe the publisher's statement in a LinkedIn post. According to him, Humble Games remains open only in name. The entire staff has been dismissed, and all tasks have been outsourced to a consulting firm. According to information from Aftermath, this firm is The Powell Group. Journalists add that Humble Games' parent company, Ziff Davis, decided to disband the publisher amid rising costs and delays in the release of new games.
