HTC wants to attract more developers to the Viveport virtual reality app store. She announced that she would temporarily reduce the commission amount from 30% to 10%, such conditions will be in effect until the end of the year.

The commission for new games and applications will decrease from April 1, 2024. For projects already released in Viveport, the commission will be reduced retroactively from March 1, 2024.

"Developers are the heartbeat of the XR ecosystem. When they thrive, the whole industry thrives," Viveport CEO Joseph Lin commented on the changes. "That's why we generously raise the share of developers' income from purchases of apps and games in the Viveport store to 90%. This stimulates their growth. By putting more revenue directly into the hands of developers, we can be sure that Viveport will be at the forefront of the growth of the XR community."

Important: The reduced commission does not apply to the Viveport Infinity subscription.

This is not the first time HTC has temporarily reduced the commission. For example, in 2021, the company reduced its size to 20%. And in 2017, 2018 and 2020, she completely canceled the commission for two to three months.
