Epic Games has settled a dispute with an insider over Fortnite leaks, layoffs have occurred at Red Rover Interactive, and sales of Meccha Chameleon have reached 15 million copies—here are the main events in the gaming industry from last weekend.
- Epic Games has resolved its conflict with Hayden Cohen, a former freelance employee who was previously accused of leaking information about Fortnite collaborations. The company had filed a lawsuit against him earlier this year, claiming that Cohen revealed the upcoming events in the game inspired by Minecraft, South Park, Game of Thrones, and several other franchises. Now, the parties have reached an agreement. According to its terms, Epic Games has decided not to demand monetary compensation from Cohen, but henceforth, he is prohibited from “accessing, using, or disclosing any confidential information or trade secrets of Epic Games," or assisting anyone in doing so. Their agreement now awaits court approval.
- Layoffs continue in the gaming industry. Late last week, it was revealed that they have hit Red Rover Interactive—a studio founded three years ago by veterans from Funcom, Bohemia Interactive, and Lockwood Publishing. According to a representative from Red Rover Interactive in a comment to the media, the studio had to downsize as part of a restructuring to create a "sustainable foundation" for further development of its debut game. He did not specify how many people lost their jobs but mentioned that the layoffs affected employees in Oslo and Newcastle. Red Rover Interactive is currently working on a multiplayer shooter with crafting elements, Enginefall, set on a massive train. If everything goes according to plan, Enginefall is expected to be released by the end of the year.
- Meccha Chameleon has reached another major milestone. Developers lemorion_1224 and Haganeiro announced that the cooperative hide-and-seek game has sold 15 million copies in less than a month since its release on June 10, 2026. According to the game's creators, Meccha Chameleon will soon have its first collaboration, featuring a certain Japanese celebrity, though their identity hasn't been disclosed yet.
