The company GDEV, behind the Hero Wars game series, reported its financial results for the first half of 2026. Based on the figures, the period proved to be mixed for the company.
Hero Wars
- In total, GDEV earned $193 million over six months. Compared to the first half of 2025, its revenue fell by 11%.
- The amount of GDEV's prereserved revenue decreased by 10%, totaling $156 million this time.
- Nearly all revenue came from in-game purchases — $148 million, a decrease of 9%. An additional $8 million (-17%) was generated through advertising.
- GDEV’s share of mobile revenue slightly increased. A year ago, it was 61%, but now it has reached 64%. Regarding revenue distribution by region, 32% of the half-yearly revenue came from Europe, 31% from the USA, and 18% from Asia.
- The number of monthly paying players in GDEV projects also decreased — by 15% to 254,000 people. However, the average revenue per paying user (ABPPU) rose by 7% to $97.
- GDEV continued to cut marketing expenses, spending $69 million on game promotion over six months. For comparison, in the first half of 2025, the amount was $95 million. Meanwhile, the company’s general and administrative expenses increased by 9% to $18 million.
- Despite the decline in revenue, GDEV's profit continues to grow steadily. By the end of the half-year, it increased by 21% to $37 million.
