Developer Garry Newman has announced that his sandbox game Garry’s Mod has been immortalized in the Guinness Book of Records. It has sold more copies than any other PC-exclusive game.

Newman joked that he never imagined himself as a world record holder unless the record had something to do with eating prawn cocktail flavored crisps.

The developer did not disclose the current sales of Garry’s Mod. It is known that as of September 2021, sales had exceeded 20 million copies.
As a reminder, Garry’s Mod was released in 2006. Currently, Garry’s Mod ranks ninth among games with the most reviews on Steam (according to Steam250), with the sandbox game gathering over a million reviews, 97% of which are positive*.
*The Garry’s Mod page on Steam provides slightly different data. It notes that the game has 944,000 reviews, 96% of which are positive. This discrepancy arises because Steam only counts reviews from users who purchased the game directly through Steam. If the game key was bought on a third-party platform, that review is not included in the statistics.
