According to miHoYo, the illegal activities were uncovered during an internal audit. In their statement, the studio did not share details of the case but noted that the former employees received different sentences. One was sentenced to one year and four months in prison, two others received one year and three months, and the last was sentenced to six months.

MiHoYo also reported that it fired a member of the Genshin Impact marketing team and blacklisted them to prevent future reemployment. As explained, the individual had started their own company but did not leave miHoYo, as they saw continued employment at the studio as beneficial for their business. MiHoYo provided information to the Chinese authorities for further investigation.

"We have always regarded honesty and integrity as the cornerstone of miHoYo's corporate development," the studio emphasized.
