The consulting firm Strategy Partners and the Organization for the Development of the Video Game Industry analyzed the Russian video game market. Below are some conclusions from the study.

According to the experts, last year's market volume amounted to 176 billion rubles, which is 4.7% higher compared to 2022. This growth continued this year. By the end of 2024, experts expect to see an amount of 187 billion rubles.

It is projected that nearly half of the market's volume in 2024 will come from PC games — 89.8 billion rubles (+5.9%). Mobile games will account for 81.3 billion rubles (+6.6%), and console games will generate 15.4 billion rubles (+4.3%).

Volume of the Russian video game market broken down by segments

Experts also projected three scenarios for 2030:

  • conservative: market volume will reach 203 billion rubles. This assumes no new government support measures, maintaining the current economic and geopolitical situation, a small number of new domestic games being released, and stagnation in the number of Russian gamers;
  • base: market volume will reach 257 billion rubles. This will occur if authorities become slightly more supportive of the Russian gaming industry, the range of new domestic games grows "moderately," and the number of gamers in the country increases slightly or remains the same;
  • optimistic: market volume will reach 327 billion rubles. This scenario envisions significant government support, maintaining or improving the current economic and geopolitical situation, the release of new games from Russian developers, and growth in the number of gamers in the country.
