An unusual move. The studio Firefly, famous for the Stronghold series of construction RTS games, has been owned by the publisher Devolver since 2021 and has announced its publishing ambitions.
The label's first project will be the tactical autobattler Fool King from the debut studio Loot Donkey. As the publisher, Wuselfaktory has taken on the financing and marketing support for the project.
Devolver will also be involved. The company's producer will assist with localization and QA. It was Devolver, in fact, that convinced Firefly Studios to venture into publishing.
This proposal largely came with an eye on the highly successful experience of Hooded Horse, whose focus on strategy games helped the company quickly rise to the top of the most successful publishers on Steam.
With a studio like Firefly Studios in its portfolio, it's not surprising that Devolver decided to commercialize its expertise in the strategy niche.
