Square Enix has announced a new milestone for Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis, a free-to-play remake of Final Fantasy VII, which was released on mobile devices in September 2023 and on Steam in December 2023. According to the company, the game downloads have recently surpassed 9 million.

According to SteamDB, the peak number of concurrent players in the Steam version of Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis was 4,756 in December. Currently, the game has a "Mixed" rating on Steam, with only 56% of slightly over 2,000 reviews being positive.
