Yesterday, Epic Games announced that it managed to reach an agreement with the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and settle two lawsuits over Fortnite. One lawsuit was about the confusing design of an in-game store and pushing for purchases in Fortnite, the other was about violating the privacy of children.
Under the terms of the agreement, Epic Games must pay a total of $520 million. A little more than half of the funds ($275 million) will be spent on a lawsuit related to the Fortnite store. This money will be distributed among the affected players.
As The Wall Street Journal journalists noticed, the fines for Epic Games were the largest among those imposed by the FTC in such cases.
