Unions are becoming more prevalent in the gaming industry. This time, developers from Bethesda Game Studios Montreal have announced their intention to create a labor union.

Activists posted on social media that they have applied to the Quebec Labor Board. If successful, their union will become part of the larger Communications Workers of America (CWA).

According to the developers, the union will help make Bethesda Game Studios Montreal a more comfortable place to work. Employees will be less worried about potential layoffs and other issues. This will positively impact game development.

Microsoft has not publicly commented on Bethesda Game Studios Montreal’s decision. In May, they promised the CWA not to interfere with ZeniMax Media employees and its subsidiary studios organizing unions.
