Such a fine was issued by the justice of the peace of Judicial District No. 422 in the Tagansky District of Moscow.

EA SPORTS Madden NFL 26

As reported by the court's press service, Electronic Arts (EA) was subject to part 8 of article 13.11 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation. This means the company did not fulfill its obligations regarding the handling of personal data of Russian gamers.

According to the law, EA is required to "record, systematize, accumulate, store, clarify, or retrieve the personal data of Russian citizens using databases located on the territory of the Russian Federation." Exactly which of these they failed to do was not specified.

EA did not comment on the decision of the Russian court.

It should be noted that EA is not the first gaming company to be fined in Russia for violations in the area of personal data. For example, in early March, a similar fine was imposed on Battlestate Games, developers of Escape from Tarkov. Whether the studio has paid it is unknown.
