Electronic Arts (EA) is preparing for restructuring. As part of it, the company plans to lay off 6% of employees — that’s about 775 people.

The head of EA, Andrew Wilson, said that the layoffs will affect only some teams, but did not specify which ones. The publisher will give dismissed employees the opportunity to switch to other projects.

According to Wilson, EA now intends to pay more attention to its strategic priorities: creating games with a large online community, engaging users with social and creative tools, as well as developing interactive blockbusters. In addition, she is going to abandon projects that do not correspond to the company’s strategy and reduce office space.

The restructuring should be completed by September 30, 2023. EA plans to spend $170-200 million on it.
