Elden Ring continues to actively buy. After the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion was shown, the developers reported that the game took a little less than two years to sell 23 million copies.

This figure takes into account both physical and digital sales of the Elden Ring.
Recall that Elden Ring was released on February 25, 2022 on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. By mid-March 2022, it had been bought 12 million times, and by February 2023, sales had grown to 20 million copies. Now Elden Ring is the best—selling game developed by FromSoftware studio.
In an interview with IGN, the head of FromSoftware, Hidetaka Miyazaki, said that the studio has no plans for either Elden Ring 2 or another major addition to the game. However, he does not definitively rule out the possibility that someday the developers will change their minds.
The Shadow of the Erdtree add-on will be released on June 21, 2024.
