On February 6, exactly two months have passed since the official release of Dwarf Fortress. In honor of this, Tanya Short, the head of Kitfox Games publishing house, announced that the game’s sales amounted to 606,342 copies.

Almost all sales came on the Steam version of Dwarf Fortress. As Short noted, itch.io he was responsible for about 5 thousand copies of the title sold.

Recall that initially Short assumed that Dwarf Fortress sales in two months would amount to about 200 thousand copies. And it was an optimistic forecast — an outside economist predicted sales of 160 thousand copies. However, Dwarf Fortress reached the mark of 160 thousand copies the very next day after its release.
