Drake Star estimates that in 2022, the volume of announced and/or closed M&A agreements, investments and public offerings in the gaming industry amounted to $127 billion. This is 78.8% more than a year earlier.

The lion’s share of the amount fell on M&A — $102.3 billion. Investments accounted for another $11.1 billion, and public offerings — $13.5 billion.

The biggest deal of the year is the announcement of the purchase of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft Corporation for $68.7 billion.

In July, Drake Star predicted that the volume of transactions by the end of 2022 would reach $150 billion, but the forecast was not justified. In the forecast for 2023, the company did not name specific figures, noting only that the year will be saturated with transactions (but not as much as 2022).
