The Russian studio Cyberia Nova has revealed the figures for "Smuta." They announced that as of today, the project has reached one million downloads. This number includes both sales of "Smuta" and downloads of free add-ons from the educational mode "Time of Troubles," which are distributed separately from the game.

The studio did not specify how the audience is distributed, so it is unknown how many people purchased "Smuta" and how many downloaded the add-ons. It is only noted that the number of add-on downloads was "very significant."
Reaching the million mark allowed the developers to achieve one of the main KPIs of the Internet Development Institute (IDI), whose funding partially supported the creation of "Smuta." To recall, in 2022 and 2023, the organization allocated a total of 490 million rubles in grants for the game's development. Additionally, in July 2024, the media reported that IDI granted Cyberia Nova another grant—amounting to 100 million rubles—for the creation of new educational add-ons.
"A million downloads is one of the key conditions for receiving state funding for the development of 'Smuta.' Today, we have surpassed this milestone and completed a challenging but important task. We are grateful to the Internet Development Institute for supporting the project, providing comprehensive assistance, and entrusting us," said Alexey Koptsev, CEO of Cyberia Nova.
Cyberia Nova is currently considering developing a sequel to "Smuta" and further expanding the "Time of Troubles" mode.
"Smuta" was released on April 4, 2024, exclusively on VK Play. Currently, its "Time of Troubles" mode offers four add-ons featuring the history of the White City in Moscow, Moscow itself, Nizhny Novgorod, and Yaroslavl.
