A month ago, the Development Organization of the Video Game Industry (DOVGI) publicly announced plans to develop a strategy to support game development in Russia for the next ten years. Now it has officially presented the first version of the document.

“Zemsky Sobor”

The strategy project is divided into seven thematic blocks, each containing its own proposals for developing the industry:

1. Establishing a sustainable dialogue with public bodies;
2. Attracting investments into Russian projects and forming a favorable investment environment;
3. Developing the technological potential of the video game industry;
4. Public communications to develop the video game industry;
5. Developing the professional and gaming community;
6. International relations and development of export potential;
7. Development of educational initiatives in the industry.

For example, in the block on dialogue with the government, DOVGI proposed ensuring that representatives of gaming companies participate in Russian government meetings to defend the industry's interests. Other ideas mentioned in this block include the introduction of preferential loans for game developers, fostering the development of a domestic age rating system, and strengthening the fight against piracy. In the block on international relations, they mentioned the need for subsidies for the localization and promotion of Russian games abroad.

DOVGI hopes that by following its plan, the Russian gaming industry will rank among the world's top seven largest by 2035.

Currently, DOVGI plans to present the strategy project to Russian gaming companies and authorities. Their feedback will be considered in the finalization of the plan, and the association intends to collect opinions until April 30.
